Multiple Affected as Rough Air Hits A Delta Airlines Plane Arriving in Sydney
A number of individuals were hurt when a Delta Airlines flight originating in Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson told. Four flight attendants were injured.
Local paramedics stated they treated a total of five people, and took three of them to hospital with relatively minor issues that included back pain and migraines. The patients' ages ranged from their thirties and seventies.
The event represents the most recent case of commercial jets encountering turbulence, with researchers pointing out that global warming is a major factor.
There were 245 passengers and fifteen staff members on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson noted, adding that the plane touched down "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on the day in question.
Emergency responders said they were alerted just three minutes before the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac.
Why plane turbulence is growing more frequent - and more severe.
